Our History

Coquitlam Power and Sail Squadron was established May 12, 1969.

We are primarily interested in promoting and practicing Safe Boating Awareness and Good Fellowship among those who enjoy our beautiful British Columbia water ways. We also enjoy performing public services for the General Boating Community at large.

We have grown in size from 20 members in 1969, to a membership of 280 today. Our Training Department trains between 75 and 100 Basic Boating graduates each year, many of whom choose to become members of the Coquitlam squadron.

C.P.S.S. is fully authorized to provide and examine boaters for the Canadian Coast Guard, Personal Operators Certification program.

Commanders Award

Instituted in 1973, and donated by Dick Pentecost, it is awarded to a Squadron member who, in the Commander's opinion, has contributed the most towards the Squadron during the Commander's term of office.
